How we score cleaning service businesses in Klang Valley

PJ Cleaning Service Guide currently scores 979 cleaning service businesses across Klang Valley. Every score comes from a fixed set of measured signals applied the same way to every listing. Nobody adjusts a number by hand, and this page explains exactly how the number gets there.

The five signals, heaviest first

Each business gets a composite score from 0 to 100, built from five weighted parts:

SignalWeightWhat it measures
Sentiment28%A synthesis of what recent reviews actually say: praise vs recurring complaints
Rating26%The Google aggregate star rating
Volume20%How many reviews exist, log-scaled so a handful of reviews can't outrank hundreds
Recency12%How recently customers have actually left reviews
Completeness14%Whether phone, website, hours and address are all listed

Why sentiment carries the most weight

A star average flattens everything into one number, and that number hides patterns. Two cleaning businesses can sit at the same 4.2 stars while one has a spread of happy customers and the other has the same complaint showing up again and again, whether that's no-shows, damaged items, or a bait-and-switch on price. The star count alone won't tell you which is which. Reading what recent reviews actually describe is the only way to catch a pattern like that before you book someone to come into your home, which is why sentiment is weighted above the star rating itself.

Why the other signals matter

Rating still counts for a lot, because it's the broadest single readout of how customers felt overall. Volume matters because a business with 6 reviews and a business with 600 aren't equally proven, so we log-scale review counts rather than let raw numbers dominate. Recency matters because a cleaning company that was great three years ago may have changed staff, ownership, or standards since, so recent feedback is worth more than old feedback. Completeness matters in a practical way: a business that lists a working phone number, real hours, an address and a website is easier to actually reach and vet, and that basic reachability is part of judging whether a business is easy to hire with confidence.

Confidence and its limits

Some businesses on this guide have very few recent reviews. When that's the case, the score is built on thin data, so we mark it as low-confidence right on the listing. Treat a low-confidence score as a starting point, not a verdict, and read the underlying reviews yourself before deciding.

We also don't republish reviews wholesale. What you read on a listing here is our synthesis of the themes in recent reviews, and we link out to the original source on Google so you can read the full, unedited reviews yourself.

Scores are earned, not sold

Every score on this guide comes from the rubric and data above, full stop. Paid placement, on the pages where it exists, is always labelled as paid and never changes a score. If any list on this guide has picks or ordering that were editor-reviewed rather than purely score-driven, that is disclosed on the page itself. There is no back channel to a higher score.

Who's behind this guide

PJ Cleaning Service Guide is published by Meridian Guides, which has run independent city directories for everyday services across Malaysia since 2025. Every Meridian Guides site ranks businesses with a published scoring method built on public customer reviews, rankings are never sold, sponsored placements are labelled, and no payment changes a score. You can read more about the publisher at meridianguides.my or reach the team directly at [email protected].

Editorial oversight of the rankings on this guide sits with Janice, Editor. Data across the guide is refreshed on a monthly cycle, and each individual listing carries a "last verified" stamp so you can see when it was actually last checked rather than assume the whole site updates at once. FAQ

How often is the data updated?
The whole guide is refreshed on a monthly cycle, and each listing shows its own "last verified" stamp so you can see when that particular business was last checked rather than guessing.
Why do two businesses with similar star ratings get different scores?
Star rating is only 26% of the score. Sentiment, weighted higher at 28%, looks at what recent reviews actually describe, so a business with repeated complaints about one issue can score lower than a business with the same star average but more consistently positive feedback.
What does a low-confidence label mean?
It means the business has too few recent reviews for the score to be reliable. We still calculate and show a score, but we flag it so you know to read the underlying reviews yourself before relying on it.
Can a business pay to raise its score?
No. Scores come only from the rubric described on this page: sentiment, rating, volume, recency and completeness. Where paid placement exists on this guide it is always labelled as paid, and it never changes a business's score.
